Alotenango marimbas meets San Juan Sacatepequez

Residents of San Juan Alotenango, Sacatepéquez witnessed an emotional concert marimba ensemble and starring 4 marimbas belonging to community art academies of this department. The theme of the assembly was the Holder Fair held in June each year and brings together locals and Guatemalan and foreign tourists. The activity was held on Sunday 8 June and was attended by the municipal mayor José Luis Marroquín Alotenango and Artistic Director of the Ministry of Education Culture and Sports, Sonia Juarez.

The Community Schools Art Marimba specialized integrated assembly that were: San Antonio Aguas Calientes, Sumpango, San Juan San Juan y el Obispo Alotenango. The Mayor thanked the Ministry of Culture and Sports for their support during the event and communities through the Community Schools of Art in its various branches, providing teachers to teach the different courses and thereby contribute to the development of children and youth in the communities to form a culture of peace throughout the country.

The Artistic Director of Training MCD received recognition from the Mayor. The Director expressed her excitement to hear the notes of the marimba played by young musicians of Community Schools of Art Sacatepéquez. The concert was attended by around 300 people most locals, they were treated to classic themes of several national composers, popular rhythms played on marimba as cumbia and foxtrot etc..
