Celebrating Kite Day in the Park Erick Barrondo


Thousands of Guatemalans gathered since the early hours of Sunday morning 9 November, to celebrate the Day of the Keg, an initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, via the Department of Sport and Recreation.

The sky was adorned with colorful kites from the smallest to the largest were raised to heaven. Whole families gathered to enjoy the activities that took place throughout the day.

Amidst this celebration Guatemalans had the opportunity to greet the Minister of Culture and Sports, Dwight Pezzarossi, who with his family toured each of the activities organized by the Directorate of Substantive Areas of the General Directorate of Sports; well it was attended by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Clariza Castellanos, who developed a keg in free workshops that were available to Guatemalans.

During activity, were shown two giant kites made by members of the Association of kiters Santiago Sacatepequez, who began the work of putting together the structure of the barrels from the day Saturday afternoon.

Pintacaritas, globoflexia, Inflatable, show de magia, batonistas, school bands, clowns, show de bicicletas, show Mayan ball game, groups of break dance, reggaeton and participation of national artists Nidia Leon and Juan Pablo Soto, were part of the celebration that has over 10 years performed in the park Barnabas Barrondo Erick Garcia in the area 7 capital.
