Chimaltenango and Quiché are the first destinations of "Vamos al Mundo Maya"

The Ministry of Culture and Sports initiated project visits "Vamos al Mundo Maya" that are made iconic archaeological sites in Guatemala. On Saturday 21 March was attended Chuwa Nima 'Ab' AJ in Chimaltenango and Q'um'arkaj, Quiche with students who belong to the middle level of the national education system.

The aim of these tours, organized by the Directorate General of Cultural Development and Strengthening of Cultures, is to promote the recognition and appreciation of tangible and intangible cultural legacies of the Maya civilization through direct contact, exchange of knowledge and experiences of middle school students.

Gladys Rojas, cultural promoter of the Ministry of Culture and Sports said "In the Ministry strengthen and promote Guatemalan identity through protection, promoting and disseminating the values ​​and cultural expressions of indigenous peoples and Guatemalan communities, that is why we encourage the tours 'Vamos al Mundo Maya' with visits to various archaeological and spiritual sites nationwide "

First destination in Chimaltenango
