ART Students exhibiting work at the National Library

Students Visual Arts career of ESA Art School at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala USAC, opened the exhibition of paintings and sculpture called "Minimal", Friday 16 August in the lobby of the National Library "Luis Cardoza y Aragón".

The sample consists of 50 artworks, paintings and sculptures, made by students of different semesters of Visual Arts Career. This is the third exhibition of the four that are performed annually, said student artist Cristian Maldonado, second place winner.

An open call is made, and all students who wish to participate may do so. A jury selected the works to be exhibited, rewarding the top three places and giving five honorable mentions.

The architect Hector Santiago Castro, ESA Director, said it is very significant to make this exhibition at the National Library, because it is a building that also represents a place of knowledge and culture, was at the time a historic change in society and the Guatemalan architecture, by joining the Master Efrain Recinos murals with the building design.

For his part, the Director of the National Library, Ilonka Matute, congratulated the artists for their work and said the institution in charge has a special place for the USAC, by the great historical contribution, academic and cultural this university offers our country.

The name of the exhibition "Minimal" comes from the artistic minimalist, trying to make a point with the least amount of detail and color possible. This exhibition will be open until the first week of September, in times of 9:00 a 17:00 Hrs., moons has viernes.
