National Arts mourns death with Juan de Dios González

On Friday morning 26 died September Guatemalan art teacher Juan de Dios González, recognized for his mural works, oil paintings and watercolor. He began his artistic training at the National School of Plastic Arts "Rafael Rodríguez Padilla", which years later would serve as teacher.
He studied under such greats as Carlos Mérida, Humberto Garavito, Enrique Acuña, inter alia. During his career, participated in several exhibitions at home and abroad.
In 1958 was awarded the First Prize of National Science Competition, Literature and Fine Arts of Guatemala. Among the best known works is the mural Maestro González Hall People's Congress, it commemorates the Revolution 20 October 1944. Part of his artistic legacy remains in the National Museum of Modern Art "Carlos Merida".
Coordinated placement mural Carlos Merida at the Bank of Guatemala, Mayan Priests titled Dancers, which was opened in 1966. He worked with the Master Merida for several years, who once said, learned great lessons applied in his works.
