Great end of Gastronomic Festival "Meet My Culture" in Livingston

The Ministry of Culture and Sports, through the General Directorate of Cultural Development and Strengthening of Cultures Festival gave the closing "Meet my Culture” Saturday in Livingston, Izabal.

This festival allowed strengthening Guatemalan cultures comprehensive level, because it helped strengthen coexistence and a dynamic and active learning in Chiquimulilla, Santa Rosa, San Juan la Laguna, Solola, Rabinal, Baja Verapaz y Livingston, Izabal.

Flavors, colors and rhythm excelled in this closure, in which 14 Garifuna women gave a demonstration of the preparation of sweet coconut like the machuca.

"That's why, through the Ministry of Culture and Sports highlight the Guatemalan cuisine, with expressions of the four villages that make up our society, this time we are in Garifuna Livingston to enhance the food and we got a big surprise for the warm welcome to this party where flavor and rhythm are present in all participants of this event ", signal Clariza Castellanos, Deputy Minister of Culture.

In recognition of this Festival was held three women involved in cooking Dulce de Coco: Claudine Flores, Petrona Leiva y Bertha Álvarez, and prepare María Machuca Gamboa, Amanda Álvarez y Josefina Bermúdez.

This is the first effort made to highlight the culture through the Guatemalan cuisine. In October are expected to edit a cookbook with ancestral dishes presented in all communities where the food festival was held.
