Guatemala is a country rich in culture alive, creative artists and shrines

Guatemala Government authorities headed by the President of the Republic, Otto Pérez Molina and the Minister of Culture and Sports, Carlos Batzin spoke about a Mexican program in which comments were issued against the Guatemalan people. It is a television production where they spoke disparagingly about the municipality of Chichicastenango, Quiche and Guatemalan singer Ricardo Arjona.

Chichicastenango is one of the cities most visited by Guatemalans and foreign tourists because of its ancient and sacred cultural characteristics that remain among its inhabitants. For his part, Ricardo Arjona is one of the most successful artists in Latin America and recently was invested with the Order of the Quetzal by the President of the Republic of Guatemala. This is a country with a large multicultural richness.

Through this statement the Government of the Republic invites producers and actors of television programs to visit and learn about Guatemala, to appreciate the different cultures living near existing and creativity of artists, Guatemalan entrepreneurs and songwriters. Through this invitation is to create a different view of media representatives from neighboring countries.

Guatemala says the media should give value and report objectively on cultural representations of the countries, specifically ancestral manifestations. He also defends the free expression of thought, of cultural expressions, comedy and satire without being discriminative insults and expressions to the State of Guatemala.
