Exhibition inaugurated “Heavenly Jade of the Maya”

As part of the cultural activities that are scheduled for the week of Archaeological Research Symposium XXVII in Guatemala, opened the exhibition "Heavenly Jade of the Maya", on the premises of the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology-MUNAE-, Monday night 22, first day of the Symposium.

This exhibition contains several pieces of jade, from different regions of our country. In it you can see how the ancient Mayas worked this precious material to create unique, from jewelry to tools and weapons.

The opening remarks were given by Carlos Batzin, Minister for Culture and Sports, who took the opportunity to thank the representatives of the Inter-American Development Bank IDB- by continuing contribution this institution has given to the development of our culture.

Also present were Rosa Maria Chan, Deputy Minister of Patrimonio Cultural, MUNAE staff, researchers and students of archaeological projects. Alejandro Fros, IDB Chief Operating Officer and Carlos Batzin, Minister for Culture and Sports, cut the ribbon.

At the end of observing the works, those attending the event lived on the premises of the Museum. The presentations and cultural activities continue to Symposium 26 July. The exhibition will be open from Tuesday 30, after the end of the Symposium.
