Young musicians attend meeting bands

The western part of the country will host the National Meeting of Symphonic Bands organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports through the Directorate General of Arts. The inauguration took place on Monday 25 August at the Family Enrichment Center in the city of Quetzaltenango. This activity was attended by the Director of Public Works of Art, Lucia Weapons; Artistic Director of Training, Sonia Juarez; Coordinator of Choirs, Bands and Orchestras Ministry, Gilmar Mejia and Jorge Oliva teacher who is guest conductor of the Conservatory of Panama City.

The meeting brings together young musicians from various departments, who initially participate in academic workshops with Guatemalan and foreign teachers. All this will take place in Quetzaltenango, until Thursday 28 August. They then participate in a series of concerts that will be on Friday Totonicapán 29. All young people belong to gangs that coordinates this ministry through the direction of Artistic Training.

At the opening, Oliva teacher indicated that this activity is of paramount importance to the artistic development of students. He also reported on the dynamics during the meeting to make. For his part, Weapons Lucia indicated that this Ministry is to coordinate activities of this nature, as part of government actions. At the end of his speech inaugurated the Meeting.

Later, the members of the band West Regional Conservatory “Jesus Castillo” they performed musical pieces. The activity is organized Ministry of Culture and Sports, with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and the Municipality of Totonicapán.
