The "Forgotten" Historical Center Architecture

Among the activities planned under the Historic Center Festival in his edition 17, was inaugurated on Friday 7 November photographic exhibition "The Dismissed", presented by the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural DECORBIC Institute of Anthropology and History of Guatemala IDAEH.

The name of the photo exhibition refers to the buildings and property that despite possessing a wealth of architectural, have been abandoned in some cases intentionally, for impairment rendering them short of the equity category in which they are.

According to Chief Joshua Montenegro DECORBIC the purpose of the photo exhibition, is to raise awareness in our society about this subject, in order to maintain and preserve these buildings for future generations.

The opening of the exhibition was provided by the Minister of Culture and Sports Dwight Pezzarossi, who congratulated the organizers of the exhibition for this initiative is a way to rescue representative artistic and historical elements of the Historic Center of Guatemala City.

The ceremony was attended by officials of the Directorate General of Cultural and Natural Heritage, IDAEH, Festival organizers and Historical Center, el Lic. Miguel Alvarez participated with an overview of the architecture changes at the center of the capital city.

This exhibition will be open until the day 14 this month, Admission is free and all activities of the XVII Festival of the Historic Centre. The visiting hours are from 9:00 a 17:00 hours Monday through Friday on the premises of IDAEH, 12 avenue 11-11 area 1 Capital City.
