American Youth Orchestra in its second phase in Guatemala

Youth Central, Caribbean and Germany arrived in Guatemala City to participate in the fifth edition of the Central American and Caribbean Youth Orchestra (FATHER). The welcoming ceremony was held at the Chamber Theatre "Hugo Carrillo" Centro Cultural "Miguel Angel Asturias" on Wednesday 22 October. The event was chaired by the Vice Minister of Culture, Clariza Castellanos and OJCA representative in Guatemala, Gilmar Mejía.

By the Youth Orchestra participated President of this institution, Alejo Fields and board members. It was attended by Ambassadors the Republic of El Salvador in Guatemala, Jorge Alberto Palencia and Costa Rica in Guatemala, Javier Diaz Carmona.

La OJCA is comprised of musicians from Guatemala jóvenes, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Dominican Republic. Two concerts will be performed, the first Thursday 23 October at the Great Hall "Efraín Recinos" Cultural Center "Miguel Angel Asturias". The second will be Friday 24 October in the church of San Francisco El Grande Antigua Guatemala.

The repertoire will consist Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra No 1 Jorge Sarmientos, No romance 1 y No 2, and the Fifth Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, In it Danzón 2 Arturo Marquez and Moon Xelajú, Paco Pérez.

It is the second time that occurs in Guatemala OJCA. The first occasion was held in 2011 en Panajachel, Solola, Public beach on Lake Atitlan.
