For the second consecutive year the Festival of Cultures and Sport arrives in San Marcos

The Ministry of Culture and Sports announced at a press conference in the Hall of Ministers of the National Palace of Culture on 24 September, "Festival of Cultures and Sport" held for the second year in the department of San Marcos.

This year the festival starts on Friday 26 and concludes Sunday 28, this event as the pre-festival activities are organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports with the support of the Organization of American States OEI, the City of San Marcos, Departmental Government, the Ministry of Education and other social entities.

The idea for the Festival of Cultures and Sport arose after the earthquake mainly affected the department of San Marcos, response of the Government of the Republic to contribute to the moral support of affected people. Throughout this year there have been workshops, training and artistic and cultural events that promote participation and strengthens the culture of the communities that make up the department.

According to the Deputy Minister of Culture Clariza Castellanos, the Government's intention is to institutionalize this festival which involved the three deputy ministers that make up the MCD with their respective addresses, to be carried out every year not only in San Marcos but also can reach other departments of our country.

The Governor of San Marcos Luis Rivera also present at the conference, MCD thanked for this initiative that benefits greatly Marquense to the public and other nearby towns.

Among the activities planned for this occasion, are artistic and musical presentations Women Marimba Concert MCD, Marimba Concert Fine Arts, inter alia. Recreational activities will also be, programs of the festival "Recreo", marching bands contest, Archaeologist for a Day and pampering, balloon twisting and face painting for the little ones. The event will be held in the central park of the department and admission to all activities is free.
