Faced with a room full of young participants of the National Meeting of Bands presented and closed their academic activities with a concert at the Teatro Municipal Totonicapan. The gala presentation was held on Friday 29 August with the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Sports, Alfredo Tay, and representatives of the Municipality of Totonicapdn and the Ministry of Education.

The concert included pieces like traditional Guatemalan highland Railroad, Youth Cristobalense Thelma and Tears. Themes were interpreted as Patria Central American artists (Panama) Honduran Jewellery (Honduras) in honor of guest teachers from these countries. Similarly there was universal melodies that were applauded by the audience, Solemn Overture as 1812 de Piotr Illich Tchaikovsky y el theme of the television series Mission: Impossible.

The organization of the meeting was given by the Ministry of Culture and Sport with the support of the Municipality of Totonicapdn, the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation, Private Music School Cuilapa and Panamanian and Honduran institutions that collaborated with the presence of foreign directors. The activity is related to the program Iberorquestas, it belongs to Guatemala.

Intense week of workshops

The aim of the meeting was to strengthen the knowledge of music students belonging to different public bodies and private. The tests were conducted at the Center for Family Guidance, located in Quetzaltenango, where lived the young musicians 25 to the 28 of that month. The call was attended by students from Quetzaltenango, Totonicapan, San Raymundo, Guatemala and Guatemala, among other places. Every day young people were gathered according to the class of instruments that run.

At the end of each day all the participants gathered for rehearsals and refine their playing techniques. The group was composed talleristas Guatemalan foreign teachers and, experts in different specialties. The owner was a guest teacher Panamanian Jorge Oliva who monitored the progress made during the conference.

Each year a similar event will be held with this group of young, which will strengthen their skills. Prior to the closing concert musicians offered two concerts in the city on Friday totonicapense 29. The first was held at the School Type Federation and the second in the West Regional Normal School, in the presence of students in public schools.
