Location
The PANTA is located in the southwestern region of the country's Pacific piedmont, is located in the municipality of El Asintal, Department of Retalhuleu, between latitudes 91 º 43'39 "and 91 º 44'47" and longitude 14 º 37'26 "and 14 º 39'36"; to a height of 600 meters above sea level.

Get Directions

Access is via the Pacific Highway (CA-2), which crosses the departments of Escuintla, Suchitepéquez and Retalhuleu, where to kilometer 190.5 is the deflection towards the western region, where the road crosses CA2-OCC, and on its way to Colomba, Costa Cuca, is passed by the municipal seat of El Asintal, National Archaeological Park being Tak'Alik Ab'aj to 4.5 kilometers from the county seat. The park is located 199 km from the capital city of Guatemala, y the 16 miles of Cabecera Departmental Retalhuleu.

Limits and boundaries
The reservoir is bounded on the North, South and West with Finca Santa Margarita; the East with the Road to Santa Margarita Colomba and farm.

Rules of conduct in the Park

  • All visitors must register and pay your income.
  • Income is not allowed without the accompaniment of a licensed guide.
  • Not allowed to have the junk out of the appropriate vessels.
  • Not allowed the use of sound devices and use horn in parking area; Unless you have permission, Such is the case of the special events.
  • No vehicles allowed to circulate in the streets, should remain in parking areas.
  • Not allowed the introduction of alcohol and people under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
  • Not allowed the introduction of animals or pets within the park.
  • Not allowed to climb the archaeological buildings or stand on the monuments, stelae and altars.
  • Not allowed scratch, write put signs on walls, trees and monuments.
  • Camping is not allowed, or overnight.
  • No permits placement of any commercial or political advertising.
  • It allows food preparation only rest areas, authorized for this purpose.
  • It allows performing ceremonies and rituals of indigenous cultures, using alternative altars and applying the special rules set.
  • It allows the use of fireworks, only during ceremonies and places designated by the relevant authorities.
  • No campfires allowed performing, rocket firing, fireworks and any inflammable and explosive materials.
  • Non-archaeological explorations and other nature and extract any cultural or natural object.
  • Not allowed taking pictures or filming in unauthorized areas that are under investigation or restoration.
