Open Air Theatre continues undergoing restoration

Since the beginning of year, the Open Air Theatre "Otto René Castillo" Cultural Center Miguel Angel Asturias, is in the process of restoration and for the first time recently hosted a cultural summer program, to the delight of Guatemalan families, conducted in late March.

Now, the restoration process continues, as discloses Carlos Estrada, Director of the National Theatre, so the use of this space has been temporarily suspended.

Earlier this year the queries and the corresponding analyzes were made to initiate a process of restoring the Open Air Theater "Otto René Castillo". This assessment has already been dictated and then began work, recovering backstage, part of the bathrooms and access areas for the stage, having invested to date Q50 thousand quetzals to rectify leaks, glass changes, and changing mirrors composing, restore complete furniture and lighting in the dressing rooms.

The next step in this process is to continue the work of lighting, since there is no light in this room, because the wiring is already 36 years old, plus its abandonment, Carlos Estrada unveiled.

Cultural programs in the halls of Centro Cultural Miguel Angel Asturias not stop today, Saturday and Sunday morning, so it is scheduled the VIII Festival Theatre, in Commemoration of the International Theatre Day, waiting an average of 500 people who attend this festival expected that every year takes place in the country.
