Honorary title of Deputy Minister for Cultural Heritage

Russian State University of Humanities, delivered last 15 June, the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa to the Deputy Minister of Cultural and Natural Heritage of Guatemala, Chan María Rosa Guzman, in ceremony held in Moscow, Russia, country that was invited to receive this award.

The scientific council of this prestigious university, decided to grant this recognition, as a sign of respect and admiration for his great contribution to the conservation of cultural heritage of Guatemala and its contribution to the development of education of the indigenous peoples of Guatemala and Latin America. The doctorate is not just for me, is for Guatemala, Expreso the viceministra Chang.

Also, highlighted the many scientific and academic achievements that the deputy minister has garnered throughout his career. The proposal to grant this title was presented by Dr. Galina Ershova, Director, Center for Mesoamerican Studies "Yuri Knorosov" and Director of Russian-Guatemalan Maya Studies "Yuri Knorosov" – named after the first scholar of Maya epigraphy.
