Officials from the Ministry of Culture and Sports attend opening of BAVIC


The 9th Biennial of Visual Arts of Central America (BAVIC) is held in the city of Guatemala's 30 July to 26 August with contemporary artistic proposal. For its inauguration was attended by the Minister of Culture and Sports, Carlos Batzin and Deputy Minister of Culture, Clariza Castellanos, who accompanied the organizers.

This activity brings together representatives of the Central American isthmus visual arts and this year Spain will have as guest of honor, with the presence of speakers and artists of that country. In total there will be eight venues which are used for exhibitions lectures, all located in Guangzhou Exhibition Area 4 capital.

The Batzin Minister was invited to give an opening speech as representative of the Government of the Republic. In his address said that art preserves the history and that these activities are important for the development of the country. Also, He urged the participants and the general public to promote the culture of peace through their activities.

Together with Ministry officials, at the opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Funcación Grow, Emilio Mendez; the Deputy Chief of the Embassy of Spain in Guatemala, Inigo Febrel and President of the Board of the Paiz Foundation, Elizabeth Paiz Sierra.
