Forest Sonoro inaugurate it in Ant Mazatenango

Student ant plants a tree in the Forest Sound, Mazatenango.

As part of National Tree Day and the International Day of Biodiversity, the Guatemalan Association of Authors and Composers-AGAYC- , with municipal authorities and civil, are being made this day the opening of the "Sound Forest Mazatenango" project, which consists in planting 200 hormigo trees in the area of ​​the former sports complex this city.

The tree hormigo designated and appointed as Marimba Tree, Tree of Culture and Peace Tree, according to the Ministerial Agreement 66-99; hence, the project aims to reforest the area in question and also pay tribute to composers and authors of marimba music, among them Wotzbelí Aguilar, José Domingo Bethancourt y Rosendo Barrios, inter alia.

The activity was attended by Clariza Castellanos, Deputy Minister of Culture, that expressed, is an honor to be part of the first tree planting in Mazatenango hormigo and to recall those great masters composers, who left a valuable legacy for the country music.

The biodiversity crisis is largely, result of human activity and represents a serious threat to human development. The Ministry of Culture and Sports invites Guatemalans to promote the creation of green spaces and also promote the protection of forest resources.
