Young Guatemalan launch game

On Wednesday 29 May at 18 hours, National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, (Street area museums 13) launched the video game Mayan Pitz, which is the first application of its kind produced in Guatemala. The launch was attended by officials from the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Mayan Pitz, is a game made for mobile devices and their download is free. The game is inspired by the stories of the Popol Vuh and the ancient Mayan ball game. Furthermore virtually recreates different sites and archaeological parks where practiced.

According to creative director, Daniel Monroy: "The idea is to show that in our country if you can produce this kind of game. Similarly, it comes to recovering and valuing the Guatemalan culture through technology, for young nationals and residents of the rest of the world can see part of the great culture and history we possess ".

After the official launch of the game, the Ministry of Culture and Sports placed a link on their website to download the application from there and thus contribute to the spread of the game.

The application is available in the online shop and google iStore play which has been well accepted in different parts of the world. Youth currently working on a version for Windows and Macintosh OS. Mayan Pitz is available in Spanish, English and Italian and with the support of Ministry of Culture and Sports will be translated into predominant languages ​​of Guatemala Maya.
