Orchestra of the Americas, on tour in Guatemala

The Tour 2013 the Orchestra of the Americas-YOA- for its acronym in English, Central celebrates legacy as an area of ​​global and regional _conexiones, and honor del 500 anniversary of the first sighting of the Pacific Ocean by Vasco Nunez de Balboa, by which Guatemala will be performing soon.

YOA is an international orchestra formed in the 2001 by the most talented and promising young musicians in the hemisphere. It has captivated today, to millions of people from all walks of life, in every corner of the Americas and the world.

The Tour offers free concerts for communities and musical exchanges for local youth. YOA musicians will serve as mentors for Musicians Orchestra System of Guatemala.

YOA will perform with the National Symphony Orchestra of Guatemala at the National Theatre, the 31 July and will hold another outdoor concert in the colonial city of Quetzaltenango 01 August, under the direction of Maestro Carlos Miguel Prieto.

The Guatemala National Symphony Orchestra transforms the lives of vulnerable families and young people, providing safe and inclusive environments in which they can grow and thrive as musicians and human beings. YOA perform a comprehensive repertoire of masterpieces of symphonic music, Symphony No.. 2 in E Minor by Rachmaninoff, Symphony No.. 1 in F minor by Shostakovich and Guide Youth Orchestra of Benjamin Britten, and the world premiere of 200 Captive Dreams from Scott Wheeler and American premieres of Homeland Ex Gabriela Montero and Concerto Tiger, Hidden Dragon by Tan Dun.
