Deputy Director of World Heritage Mexico visits our country

In honor of the collaborative effort between the Deputy Minister of Cultural and Natural Heritage and the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural (UNESCO), a visit from the Deputy Director of the World Heritage National Institute of Anthropology and History of Mexico was coordinated, Francisco Vidargas.

Among the objectives of your visit, as indicated Vidargas, can be mentioned to make a diagnosis of the places that Guatemala has on the list of UNESCO World Heritage and share experiences in order to improve management plans for each of these places.

In order to analyze the situation of Guatemalan places in the World Heritage list of UNESCO World Heritage Deputy Mexico held a meeting on 18 this month at the National Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, with Directors and Heads of the various Departments and Archaeological Sites comprising the Vice Ministry of Cultural and Natural Heritage.

Guatemala currently has three places on the World Heritage List are Tikal National Park, Quirigua Archaeological Site and the colonial city of La Antigua Guatemala.

The Mexican official said that through a series of visits to different parts of the country and that there is the possibility that Guatemala can enter more sites on UNESCO lists.
