Guatemalan youth are trained in gender

Starting Thursday 20 November, young Guatemalans have new tools to promote gender equality and ethnicity in public institutions. The Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Presidential Secretariat for Women (SEPREM) organized a workshop to this topic, aimed to integrate the Civic Service Program and the Gender Unit of the Ministry.

The activity was held at the National Palace Flags Hall of Culture, with the participation of more than 300 young people across the country and representatives of the Coordinating Committee on Presidential Executive Policy on Human Rights (Copredeh).

The Minister of Culture and Sports, Dwight Pezzarossi inaugurated activity, accompanied by the Undersecretary of SEPREM, Cleotilde Vasquez and director of the Gender Unit of the Ministry, Elizabeth Beltetón.

Speaking, Pezzarossi noted that the Ministry has a group of professional women, Vice Minister dos, promoting sports and cultural, whose work magnify the work of the ministry responsible institution.

"Changes in matter of perspective and gender equality in the country are evident, we have the first vice president in the history of Guatemala, Roxana Baldetti, who is an example in society, "noted the Minister.

One goal of the trainings is to track and monitor the National Policy for the Advancement and Integral Development of Women and Equal Opportunities Plan 2008-2023.
