OJCA Dazzle at Gala Concert

The Central American and Caribbean Youth Orchestra (FATHER) He opened his involvement in Guatemala, with a gala concert held in the Great Hall “Efrain Recinos” Cultural Center “Miguel Angel Asturias”, Thursday 23 October. Prior to the artistic presentation, addressed the audience Mr. Arthur Brunner, Deputy Minister of the German Embassy in Guatemala, and Mrs. Milena Carvajal, representative CECC / SICA.

Then, Council President OJCA, Alejo Campos gave the welcoming remarks by thanking the Government of the Republic of Guatemala for hosting and event logistics.

The protocol ended with the intervention of the Minister of Culture and Sports, Dwight Pezzarossi. The official said “this activity can encourage many more cultural activities, that sets us apart as a region in which the artistic movements of all kinds are appreciated”.

The artistic presentation opened with the Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra No.1 Jorge Sarmientos. Teacher was the solo marimba Fernando Vasquez. Later parts Romanza No.1 and No.2 Ludwig van Beethoven were interpreted, to conclude in the first part with Danzon 2 Arturo Márquez.

Prior to continuar, President OJCA, Alejo Campos reported that a musician was selected to receive a scholarship of German, Germany. This recognition was for Yareed Marroquín, clarinetist El Salvador. Later, and in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Culture, Clariza Castellanos, symbolically handed headquarters OJCA to Honduras to organize activities next year.

The second half began with Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and ended with Moon Xelajú Paco Pérez, Fernando Vasquez again with solo. The concert featured the orchestral direction of Walter-Michael Vollhardt and Aurelien Bello.

This is the second time that Guatemala hosts concerts OJCA. The first was held in 2011, with two concerts at Sololá.
